Andrews Pickleball
Pickleball in Andrews is built around the town's county recreation center. Two indoor courts can be set up in the gym, giving local players a weather-protected place for casual games. It is a small scene, so players usually bring a partner or foursome instead of relying on a large drop-in rotation.
The indoor setup matters in the Lowcountry. Summer heat, humidity, and afternoon storms can derail outdoor plans, while the gym keeps weekday play comfortable. The tradeoff is that pickleball shares space with basketball, youth programs, and other recreation activities.
Where to Play Pickleball in Andrews
Andrews Regional Recreation Center is at 220 South Cedar Avenue. The gym supports two indoor pickleball courts on a wood floor. The building also has parking, restrooms, locker rooms, bleachers, and a walking track.
The center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday. It is closed Saturday and Sunday. Those are building hours, not dedicated pickleball sessions, and the gym calendar determines when courts can be set up.
Pickleball Lessons
Beginners can start playing by arranging a private small-group session in the recreation center gym. A first session covers serving, scoring, the two-bounce rule, kitchen positioning, and basic doubles movement before stepping into full games.
For individual instruction, browse local pickleball coaches. A coach working with four players at once teaches court positioning, partner communication, and point construction while keeping the cost practical for everyone.
Open Play, Leagues, and Tournaments in Andrews
Play in Andrews is player-coordinated, with local groups gathering during open gym hours at the recreation center. Players arrange their own matches and set up the two indoor courts whenever the gym is available.
The weekday-only schedule shapes local play. Morning and late afternoon games fit best Monday through Thursday, while Friday play wraps up before noon. Players seeking organized tournament play connect with the broader Georgetown County recreation system.
Visiting Andrews for Pickleball
A visitor has the best chance of playing with a prearranged group during weekday recreation center hours. The indoor courts are useful during rain or oppressive summer weather, but Andrews is not a walk-in destination with guaranteed public games throughout the day.
Bring a paddle, indoor balls, court shoes, and partners. The recreation center sits close to downtown, so a game is easy to pair with other plans in Andrews. Travelers continuing toward Georgetown or Pawleys Island will find a larger recreation network closer to the coast, while the Andrews gym remains the convenient local choice.
